Faqs

  • Can single people or people without children come?
  • Of course! Children and adult classes and children’s (3-12 years) activities are separate, the children have different learning needs and do not interrupt the adult’s classes. There will always be members of the faculty to converse with as the staff to guest ratio at La Jarilla is low. In fact, why not get some friends together, take advantage of our group booking discount and make a child free week!

  • Do I have to always speak to my children in English while at La Jarilla?
  • No, however La Jarilla staff will only speak English to them , remember it is good for your children to hear you speaking and developing your English.

  • Is there a minimum level of English required?
  • No, while we recognise our course is not suitable for complete beginners, we do not have a minimum level. If you would like to come but you are not sure your level is up to standard, please ask us, we can assess your level and advise you according to your result. In theory as long as you want to improve, and you make the effort and have the motivation, we can work with you.

  • If I am coming to learn English do I have to eat English food?
  • We are lucky to be surrounded by some of the best fresh produce in the world, therefore our food is prepared from locally sourced, and in some cases home grown. The emphasis is on nutrition and enjoyment. During the summer months we eat when possible on one of the terraces.
